Our bus drivers are very concerned about the safety of our children at Northside. “Texas state law requires drivers to stop for school buses that are stopped and have activated their alternating red flashing lights. Drivers should not proceed until the school bus resumes motion; the driver is signaled by the bus driver to proceed, or the visual signal is no longer activated,” said Col. Stan Clark, interim director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Failure to follow this law is a possible fine of no less than $200 and no more than $1000. As a group we all need to work together and improve our safety guidelines at the bus stop. The bus drivers will be taking note of those that break the bus laws, then a warning will be given and thereafter the license numbers will be turned into the Police Department. As you have done before in dropping off your children, please pull up perpendicular to the bus and not along the side of the bus. Do not exit the parking lot along the side from the bus. Remind your child to stay behind painted lines on the parking lot while waiting for the bus.
Our rules for the bus that will be enforced are the following:
Observe same rules as a classroom.
Be courteous, no profane language.
Water is allowed but no food or soda on bus.
Keep bus clean
Cooperate with driver.
No tobacco or alcohol.
Do not be destructive to bus seats, window, or etc.
Stay in seat.
Keep all body parts in bus.
No cell phones.
Please follow these rules and help us keep your children SAFE!
