Northside PTO strives to support the students, teachers, and staff in various ways. One thing we do is purchase items requested by teachers for use in their classrooms. Some items purchased in the past include an Ellison Die Cut Machine and large playground equipment. This year the PTO purchased a new flag pole for the front of the new addition. At the end-of-year school assembly, the PTO draws names of students who make the honor roll or have perfect attendance and gives them prize money. Often one teacher or staff member's name is drawn and they are given prize money as well. We also support the Annual staff and the Library's Book Fair. We organize and help provide refreshments for the elementary Christmas Program.
Our major fundraiser is the annual Homecoming Dinner held during the fall. The PTO also raises money by collecting Boxtop for Education and the Tysons' labels. We can always use donations of both types of labels! They can be given to any teacher at any time. We do have certain deadlines for these throughout the year which entitles the class with the most labels to win a party of some sort.
Officers for the 2010-2011 school year will be elected at our first meeting of the new school year. Watch the calendar for the date of the meeting. Our membership dues are a mere $5.00 per family per year!
